I have a William Vincent MILLER who died during WW1 and I have found some records which indicate he was born c1892 to Charles Richard & Elizabeth MILLER. William served in the 10th Batallion, East Yorkshire Regiment and those papers state he was a native of Willerby, Hull. At the time of his death his parents were at Council Cottages, Stokham, Retford, Notts. I am interested in any further information that I could gain on William's family, especially the MILLER side. Appreciate any advise as to where else I could look for information - many thanks, Sashar

Hi Tati, Yes, that would be the right family. You were very quick! That's quite interesting as I know another family member either worked or ran an Asylum in either Yorkshire or Gloucester. I would be very interested if you can follow the family further for me.
Thanks so much - Sashar

Sashar
You should find Charles on the LDS (or ancestry) in 1881 with parents John Charles and Mary - and many siblings! They look to be a good family to research - all have middle names RG11/4754 88/20
Trish
Edit: Just noticed father John Charles was born in Austria - Vienna - Tati - how is your knowledge of Austria? You live a little closer than me

Hi Tati and Trish, I haven't as yet had a chance to look at LDS but sounds promising.
Edit: Just noticed father John Charles was born in Austria - Vienna This MILLER family thought they had a German connection somewhere, it's interesting you've found this connection to Austria.John Charles Miller head mar 32 Wine merchant porter United States new York
Now I am confused!
Thank so much for what you've found for me - I'll get onto LDS now and have a browse - kind regards, Sashar

Hi Sashar
I can't easily find 1861 - it's dinner time here - I'll look a little later - may have to wait for Tati to find it - John Charles & Mary may not be married at that time - He may be in Vienna or New York

The Charles E MILLER missing in the 1901 Census has to be alive somewhere as I have just found some old notes and he was Charles Edward b.1890, married a Harriet unknown. They had a son William Vincent MILLER b.1920 at Witherby (he was named after the WVMiller killed in WW1) and my sister married his son.
John C Miller, Sergeant in Her Majesty's Army America N.B.S. - getting very interesting?
Thanks again, Sashar

This is probably the marriage - I can't find John Charles in 1851, but the marriage will hopefully have name of father
Marriages Mar 1861 Hustwick Mary Sculcoates 9d 233 Miller John Charles Sculcoates 9d 233
Will have a look for Mary in 1851
Trish
Good luck with the GR - Might be interesting to see what was happening in the world 1861/71 where he gives his birth as US or perhaps his father travelled with the army?
