Advice on study holidays, please.

This is an unusual request, but I'm sure some of you have experience of summers schools, activity holidays etc., with an emphasis on history.  All I can find find on the net seem to be exorbitantly expensive.  I want something in northern or central England, where they don't think people come in pairs and charge you double if you're single; where you don't need a car; and which are reasonably priced.  If the answers seem like advertising, perhaps you could PM me.
