Found this bit of info about it
A new prison was built on Thorpe Road in 1840 in the style of Pentonville Prison in London. The front of this building survives today as the Sessions House restaurant. This was the Peterborough prison up until 1878, when prisoners were instead sent to Northampton or Cambridge
