old news stories WW2 Birkenhead
« on: Monday 28 January 08 22:20 GMT (UK) »

I remember my mum talking about her brother Tommy meeting the Queen (late Queen Mother) after disposing of a bomb in Birkenhead Park does anyone have any info or if possible photos?
Also during the 2nd war her first husband Jimmy Smith helped rescue the Parish Priest when the local church Our Lady's Price St., was also damaged, any info gratefully received

There might be a report in a newpaper but we would need at least a year to go on, do you have any?

I checked Civilian deaths in Brikenhead on www.cwgc.org and there are alot for 12/3/1941, so I would assume there was a major raid then.
