Taylor of Hereford
« on: Saturday 11 June 05 14:22 BST (UK) »

I have a Charles Taylor born in Marden, Herefordshire who married Elizabeth and moved to Wales.
Each Census gives him a different birth year so it appears that he was born sometime between 1827 and 1832.
According to the 1861 Census he was single and living with his brother John and his family.  It also states that his father John Taylor was also living there.  It seems he was born around 1801.  Can anyone help me trace Charles before 1861 and John before and after 1861?
Kiss
Thanks in advance.

Hi

I'm interested in your John Taylor of Marden.  one of my ancestors is a Rebecca Taylor of Bodenham.  She had a brother John christened with her in 1803, parents William & Ann.  There is also a possible brother Richard christened in 1808 in Bodenham.  He was probably the Richard Taylor living in Marden in several census with possibly his mother Ann in 1841.  In fact he was born at a place cauld the Vauld part way between Bodenham & Marden.  On the IGI several entries are 'of Marden' concening people that were christened at Bodenham.

In 1841 census John Taylor  b 1801 in Bodenham with wife Elizabeth or Charlotte, children John 1830 and Charles 1833.  These seem to be your John and Charles.

Hi Jen
Great to finally hear from someone with an interest in the Taylor line!  I'm a little unsure as to whether the John Taylor with children John and Charles in the 1841 census are actually my family.  I have a copy of Charles Taylor obituary from the local newspaper and it claims that when he died in Wales around Sept 1924 he was 6 months away from his 100th birthday, which would make his birth year as 1825 not 1833 as in the 1841 census.  I know they weren't accurate in giving birth years at that time.  From the familysearch.org site I have a marriage for John Taylor and Charlotte Davies both of Marden but they married in 1827.  I just wish I could get some definite information which would confirm what I've got.  Please let me know if you have any further info which would help me.
Thanks.
