father on marriage cert question

When the father's name and occupation are given a marriage certificate, does it mean that they are alive at the time of the marriage?

will normally have Dec/Deceased in brackets after the name but this is not infallible.Sometimes gets missed.

Not necessarily.  I have certificates with the father's name and occupation stated and I know them to be dead!  On others it states deceased.

Not much help  Roll Eyes
