Looking for information on Adam Coates, born 1872 at Crossmichael and Jane Milligan Shaw, born 1878 at Gatehouse, after their marriage at Gatehouse in 1912.
I have checked Scotlandspeople for their deaths (up to 2006 index) with no trace.
Thanks

Hi Bigt
Have you found their marriage on SP? -that will give their parents details.
I'll have a look for deaths, meanwhile
The Shaws were quite prominent in that area at one time.

As you say, there don't seem to be any records of their deaths, even with lots of wild cards and Scotland as a whole
Thoughts - Adam could have served in WW1 - i've tried to search the National Archive site for WW1 records/medal cards but have not had much luck getting in to the medals pages :

They could have also left Scotland which doesn't help your search Do you have any details at all about any children?

Hi Gadget
I have no details of children. I've checked Ancestry.co.uk with no luck. Just wondering if they went to Australia.
I know about the Shaws being prominent in Gatehouse as that is my line. My father, grandfather and greatgrandfather were born there.

Hi
I've just found and Adam Coates, aged 39, waiter, married and Jane Coates, aged 33, wife, on the Hesperian going to Montreal from Glasgow - Departure 22 June 1912. Both Scottish.
Seems a strong possible as their ages fit the details that you've given.
Regards

Hi Gadget
Thanks for that info, will check it out.
If it is them, they were quick off the mark as they were married 21 June 1912.

It looks like them - maybe it was a quick wedding and up to Glasgow
I'll recheck the dates because I've just found some of my family while looking for yours and when I printed the image out, the dates were different.

Added - definitely 22 June 1912
