My nan tells me she remembers her family living at 5 (and/or) 9 Cross Row, Shrewsbury.
Her father was supposedly named William Wilcox and mother Mabel Moreton.(Awaiting certs to confirm this.)
On 1901 Census I found a William Wilcox aged 17 at what looks to me like 5 Crops Row, but I can't see it properly. It might make sense as this is in Atcham and her birth was registered Atcham district.
Anyone please able to have a look at this and tell me what they think? Or anyone have a map of Shrewsbury from that time with that streetname on? Googled it, found nothing.
Many thanks.

Old way of writing! S written like a P - especially where there is a double s.
I'm sure you'll find it's Cross. This happened to me a long time ago when searching for an ancestor - I thought the marriage certificate was telling me Crops but it was Cross.
Cheers, Irene

Thankyou for the help both of you. I searched for both cross row/crops row on that map but didn't come up with one.
Still, Irene I did have the same thought about old style writing myself but wondered if I was wishful thinking, so thanks for that confirmation! Looks like I've found my g grandad. Fingers crossed.
