Hi tattybilly,

Welcome to RootsChat.

Click to see Lorrha Cemetery on internnet.net

There's a description of Lorrha in Samuel Lewis', Topographical Dictionary of Ireland, 1837

There are great photographs of the ruins of Lorrha Cathedral on the Clann MacAodhagáin (MacEgan, Egan, Eagan, Eagen and Keegan Families) website. The pictures were taken by Greg and Sue Egan of Australia in 1993.

Saint Rodan's Church of Ireland Church, Lorrha was built between 1810-1820

The Great Grandparents of Sir William Deane, at one time the Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia, left Lorrha with their eight children in 1850. They boarded
the Harry Lorrequer at Plymouth and sailed to Australia.

Hi Christopher,
I have transcribed all the graveyards in the parish myself! It's a parish full of history. Have you ever visited?

Hello,
Just to clarify, it's Sir William, not Patrick, Deane, I am related to him and had a wonderful time in the tiny village when I visited up from Cork where I lived for several years.

Hello taradeane,

Welcome to RootsChat. Sorry for giving your relation the wrong name.
Thanks for pointing out the error . I've made the necessary alteration.
