Lochlass,

That 1855 death certificate should give you much extra information for Neil:
- Where he was born.
- How long he had lived in Braco.
- The names and ages of all his children, including details of any who pre-deceased him.
It's no wonder they simplified things after only one year!

David.

Hi Guys,

I know that I am jumping ahead of you here, but I thought that I would let you now that there was a girl in my class at school called Margaret McAra.  They lived in the Gilmerton Dykes area of Edinburgh.  Maybe useful later on.

Regards,
Lynda

Just joined Rootschat so hi to all my (apparent!) new relations.

My Great Grandfather John Barnett (dob 20/3/1827, Kilspindie, Perthshire) married Christian McAra (born about 1832) at Monzie Parish Church, Perthshire on 27/4/1859.

She was the daughter of John McAra (b 2/9/1798, Monzie; d 23/3/1874, Crieff) and Margaret Cameron (b about 1800, Fowlis Wester, Perthshire; d 5/2/1891) who married in Crieff 11/12/1825

John was son of Finlay McAra (b 23/8/1769) and Christian McOmish (b 2/6/1775) who were married 29/8/1795

Monzie Parish Churchyard is quite literally FULL of McAra headstones which I have pix of if anyone interested

Sorry about this ......I've just started another thread re Niel McAra which has a marriage between Niel and Mary Fell in Muthill 19/6/1820.
I dont know if its the same Niel McAra.   Really need to see if Mary died after birth of son John 10/11/1821 ?
