Hi
Would someone be able to check this Woughton on the Green marriage for the unlikely chance of any extra info please?
Shingleton GODFREY to Emma CHAPMAN 17 APR 1610
In addition if you can see any baptisms for this couple that would be great.
I have a Margaret, wife of Singleton GODFREY, buried 25 Feb 1609 in Potsgrove Beds and a Singleton GODFREY buried 3 Aug 1613 also in Potsgrove - as this is the only GODFREY activity in the Potsgrove PR and Singleton is an unusual name I am trying to link the two.
Thank you in advance Jan

Hi Tazzie.
That is amazing - sometimes the records do surprise Still don't know if this the Singleton buried in Potsgrove or a son (no baptism found) and absolutely no idea how he/they might connect to the Singleton Godfrey (no baptism found) who was having children in Ipollitts, Herts 1671-87, but it is another piece in the jigsaw! Wonderful.
Thank you once again for your help Jan

The name is so unusual but as you say the ares are not near each other for them to wander between st Ippolits and Potsgrove.
The records were a real shame not sure what had happened to them but the note says not available for research. I did not look for bishops transcripts though I wonder if they are available for the time. I will keep it in my book as I will be back in on Tuesday we are having a "Dickins " of a times witha Samuel round the villages.

Yes it is a bit of a trek Potsgrove to Ipollitts but since there is no marriage on the Allen index for the Herts Singleton I live in hope that there was some migrating going on Thanks for the offer of checking if there are Bishops transcripts.

Hi Jan .....
Looked at the BT 's today but nothing for earlier than the marriage. Shingleton's marriage entry stood out loud and clear BUT I swear it was Sept. The entry below was for the following April and a baptism so the written transcript that I looked at has April.
Tazzie
Potsgrove is a really small place hardly anyone there now.

Thanks for doing that Tazzie. Would that be Sept 1609 or 10?
This Singleton business is really bugging me - I am sure the Potsgrove Singleton (or possibly Singletons) have to be related to the Ippollitts guy, but there is just this big hole between the 1613 burial and the 1671 baptism. I have exhausted all databases I have access to and turned up no more references - so infuriating
Thanks again Jan

Hi Jan ......
still 1610.
No wonder you going in circles as you say big gap ....big distance. Interesting that the member sub for the marriage does give Sept 1610 but the wrong date of the 17.
Alot of ground to cover inbetween.
