Lissa and Kath,

Your advice was followed. Still no news. It looks like pen and paper will have to be used.

Kind regards,

Hello Lissa,

I feel exactly the same. However I have sent a message through the johnanddebbie link you sent. I didn't realise that the site email would work but it did. Now I'll wait to see if they respond.

Thank you for your offer of phoning. It is so kind of you. I will wait and see if I have any luck with the johnanddebbie link first.

Kind regards,
KiwiRose.

Hi KiwiRose,   since the John and Debbie site seems a little "slow"  not only in responding to your inquiry  but also  in just coming up noting that site crash they mention ,  maybe try here.....  The Oratory seems to be a part of this

http://allsaintscatholicmission.org/index

and the local public library

http://www.yclibrary.org/

Fingers crossed!

Thank you Lissa for your latest links.

The library one looks very interesting and I need to spend more time on it.
The allsaints site took me to The Oratory via johnanddebbie so I tried their Diocese of Charleston link instead. There was an email address for an archivist!  My email concerning Lillian has just been sent. I feel lucky. My fingers will remain crossed however just in case.

Kind regards,
KiwiRose.

Thanks for keeping us posted. I am sure you will hear from someone. Libraries can be a great resource here in the states. They are usually so helpful.

Fingers, toes and everything else crossed!!!!

Will check in later in hopes you get a reply.  It is a holiday in the US today  ---  so the library might be closed  in case you begin to fret........

If you are feeling lucky,  maybe you should play the lottery as well!

This is just an update on what has happened since 20 February.

I  had a prompt reply from the archivist at the Diocese of Charleston who was unable to help other than give me full contact details  (postal, phone and email addresses) for the Oratory. I once again emailed the Oratory link he gave me but as yet have had no reply. Maybe all email links to the Oratory are broken so tonight I will write to their postal address and see what results I get.

The local library  had an 'Ask the Librarian' link which I used  to ask if they had any local records about Lillian. They apparently don't email replies but write to you in response to your question and include their charges for research etc. It is now two weeks since my request and I'm trying to be patient.

Whilst I am no further ahead since 20th Feb,  I do feel so near to solving the problem of whether or not there were two Lillian De Curtoni's or just the Kiwi Lillian. It is just going to take more time than I thought.

Regards
KiwiRose.

Hello,

It is some weeks since I emailed the local library and wrote to the Oratory but I have had no response from either. The library replies by post to emails. I know people are busy these days but I had hoped that time would have been squeezed from somewhere to reply to my query. I was very polite in my communications so I can't have offended anyone!

I'm so near to resolving the Lillian mystery but it looks like it may not happen now.

Regards,
KiwiRose.

Hi Kiwirose,   sorry to hear no follow-up to your inquires yet!  I know it is VERY frustrating!!  But don't give up hope!   It can sometimes take a while for these matters to get addressed.  Hopefully you will soon get some news leads.   Keep the faith and keep us posted.

Let us know if there is anything you want us to do on this end......

Thank you LissaM.

Your words of reassurance made me feel better. I am certainly frustrated  with neither the local library nor the Oratorians replying to my inquiries. I'm trying to be positive but as each day passes and there is no news it gets harder and harder.  I can't think yet as to what my Plan B might be.

Regards
KiwiRose.

I didn't get any notifier on this thread, so didn't realize there had been more posts. Bummer Kiwi. It took 8 weeks for me to get obits from a library  in NJ, so chin up, maybe they are just slow. If I can do anything for you in the US, let me know. Happy to attempt something.
