I have on the English 1871 to 1901 census a John Bunker born approx 1837. The most detailed census had him born Fort George, Inverness, Scotland.
He was married in England in 1869 and his father is given as Richard Bunker.
I would be interested in finding him on any earlier census or if there is any parish record information about him. I'm not sure about Scottish genealogy or geography so any help would be fantastic.
Fort George is exactly that - a Fort! If you search for it through a search engine you'll get some great information and photographs. Perhaps your ancestor was based there through being in the military? Try this link for starters: www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/nairn/fortgeorge
