Hi,
Can Any body help?

I have just received from the Public Record office at Kew England the discharge papers of a John Audley who was discharged from what I believe is the Royal Leinster Regiment of Foot (bit difficult to read) on 30th April 1783 at Kilkenny.

What was happening at Kilkenny in 1782 to 1783? The John Audley was only in the regiment for seven months and when discharged in 1783 was 42 years old. He seems to have been in the regiment for a very short period of time and would have been 41 when he enlisted!! He was born in King's county The reason for discharge is given as 'having no further service for him'. My knowlege of Irish history is poor can you please help fill the gap?
