Can anyone help me? I am new to all this! My g-g-g-grandfather was a William Wagstaff (1777) and he was married to a Sarah Pickard. They lived in the warwickshire area. Does anyone have any information on either of these two people?
Many thanks Sue

Have you worked back to them from your parents, then grandparents and children, then great-grandparents and children?

The William i have was born in 1776/77 and he was from coventry. He married Sarah Pickard and she died in 1826. In the same year William then married an Elizabeth Price. William died in 1850. Their son Henry (sarahs) was born in 1815 and died in 1889

Have you looked at the IGI www.familysearch.org There are three William Wagstaffs baptised in Coventry. One in 1776, one in 1778 and one in 1779 Also a Sarah Pickard baptised in Coventry in 1777

Hello Sue
Unfortunately this hobby is not always easy.
How do you know his age? If that him on the 1841 census living in Coventry it says he was 65 but the age in that census is rounded down to the nearest 5 so he could have been aged 65-69
Perhaps you have his age from the death certificate. Unfortunately these are not always correct but a good guide.
How do you know he was born in Coventry. The 1841 census just says he was born in county and that is Warwickshire
Does he have any children with the same names as the parents listed. That can be an indication.
Can you tell us where you have got your information

i cannot recall where i got my info on william from now! I have bought myself a note book and intend to write down where all my info has come from. However i am also on Genesreunited and a John Wagstaff assures me that William was born in Coventry - i shall have to ask him how he knows this. He also tells me that Williams parents were also a William Wagstaff (c1750) and his mother was Mary Ryley but there is no date for her.

Henry Wagstaff was my g-g-grandfather, his daughter Catherine being my g-g-grandmother. I have an old photo of her but not sure how i put it onto the site.
Many thanks for the burial information - where is the burial site exactly? I also don't understand how William and Elizabeth were buried on the same date or why they were living at seperate address's. Any ideas on this and also how can i verifiy that this is them? Sorry for all these questions!

Mystery solved . I don't suppose you know if this grave is still visable? Be nice to pay a visit if it is. Have you any idea when Sarah (his first wife) died or where she is buried?

The William Wagstaff who died in Feb 1863, was my wife's gt gt gt grandfather. He is shown as living in Cox St in the 1861 census aged 86, so I'm pretty sure it's him. He was a Silk Weaver and was born at Stoke. His wife Elizabeth was 27 years his junior!
So many thanks to cov2811 for that info!
