Hi Ian,

It's not just that, it's easier if you live nearer and remember things, I know there's a Lendal Tower in York, if you g**gle it you'll find it.  I also looked at the census enumeration page and it's a bit clearer on that.  However I couldn't find out anything about the Yorkshire Club.

Here is the Yorkshire Club today, it was a private 'Gentleman's Club', when we came to live here in 1958.

thanks for those snippets ladies - I'll go and check them out!

It is so much easier when you know an area and its landmarks, streets etc but when you've never heard of them you don't really know what you are looking for or if they still exist.
