Hi, I seek details of a Lydia Hammonds b abt 1851 Clee Hill Shropshire. I have been given a list of Hammonds by a lady in New Zealand, but even though they are close enough to be possibles with out her parents names I am stuck.
Can you please help? Lydia Married George Young in 1952 in Binegar Church, Binegar Somerset.
I wait in earnest.

This must be the family in 1851, just before Lydia's birth:
HO107/1985 Corly, Salop Broadside, Clee Hill
Benjamin Hammonds, 49, coalminer Mary H, 34 James H, 15, coalminer Harriet H, 10 Mary A H, 7 Sarah H, 5 Lucy H, 3 all b Corley
Next door, as visitors are: Elizabeth Hammonds, 14, b Corley; Thomas H, 12, collier, b Cainham; Benj., 5, b Cainham
There are two deaths for Benjamin Hammonds:
Mar 1852 Ludlow Sep 1860 Hereford
Perhaps they are father and son.

Following on from the Monmouthshire connection, there's a George Young married Lydia Hammond ( no 's' ), September qtr 1873, Newport Monmouthshire, vol 11a page 263.
Nothing found in Somerset.

Hi, Sorry I am mixing up dates, Lydia was born in Clee Hill Shropshire in 1851 and Married George Young b 1852 in Binegar Somerset in 1873 and they lived in 16 Amelia Terr Ystradyfodwg, Glamorgan Source for this is as quoted from 1881 census Source: FHL film 1342277 Pro ref RG 11 Piece 5305 Folio 27 Page 47
Lydia must have been one of the following: Dau of John Hammond and Mary Pope M 27 Jun 1833 Dau of Benamin Hammond and Mary Key M 20 May 1834 Dau of Joshua Hammond and Elizabeth Pope 22 Feb 1841
I don't think it can be John as he had a dau Lydia in 1834 in Cleo Mortimer Benjamin appears to be living in Coreley so my Favourite is Joshua.
Further we see a Joshua born c 1841 in Clee Hill in 1881 could this be a son of Joshua and Elizabeth and Lydia's brother?
These are the only fact I have so far and pray someone can can link Lydia to her parents.

I don't think these are the only facts you have. Benjamin and Mary are living in Clee Hill in 1851 (where Lydia was born later in 1851) and the 1871 (see above) shows a Lydia Hammonds with her mother Mary. The ages are slightly wrong (not uncommon) but the places of birth are right and there is a posible death for Benjamin in 1852. All of this is not conclusive but pretty strong evidence.

Thanks a great deal for that. It helps prove the link.
As Joshua Married an Elizabeth and John and Mary had a Lydia in c 1831/4 then surely the fact that Benjamin and Mary were in Clee Hill in 1851 and my sister is quite sure that was the year she was born and the place, (my mother having talked more to her about ancestors) I would say this put the icing on the cake and in very conclusive in my eyes.
I will have to take a trip and see if I can find some parish records there that agree.
Thanks for all you help, everyone.
I now can answer my new found relative in New Zealand.

Hi, to add to it all I just spoke to my sister and told her what you'd found for me and she said that she remembers Mum (my mother) telling her that Lydia never got to see her father as he was killed in a mining accident the following year. Perhaps the Benjamin that was killed in Hereford was in fact the Benjamin that was classed as visitors next door in Clee Hill who was only 5 at that time.
It sure looks about right to me.
Many thanks again
