thanks ebn.appreciated..i` learn every day on genealogical research....annie,i only had samuels birth year 1685,and his wife elizabeth(unknown) thru igi...i must be doing something wrong,because you seem to be getting more info on igi than i am..was this info of the lewis family in eardisley from igi...if so,is samuel/elizabeths marriage on there...their daughter sarah lewis was born in 1709..so samuel would have been 24...ftf is family tree forum.....google familytreeforum.co.uk....if you wish to register(free) use my name(garstonite) as a reference....thankyou both....allan

i`d like to thank you all for your help...because of the info gathered i`m going to
Eardisley
Llandinabo
Norton Canon
Clodock
Kingsland
Ocle Pychard
Letton
Dilwyn
Bridge Sollars
for whit week-end........they are all within easy distance from each other....covering 1650 to 1871 when my gg grandmother came to Garston from Ocle Pychard...i know stories get exaggerated over the years,but she supposedly came from a rich father who had over 100 acres of land ...and in the household of edward merrick/ann merrick,and their children, anna/Marianne(my gg grandmother)/and william...they supposedly had 3 servants in the 1861 census.......could anyone check this out please if possible........thanks....allan

good morning...i`m back from Herefordshire and managed to visit 5 of the 10 villages I went to see...only for the disastrous weather i would have visited the 10...puffcat..I visited Eardisley and met Brian Hales,the author of those books you mentioned..he`s in his 70`s and a lovely man..that was a bonus...i managed to visit

Letton
Staunton on Wye
Bodenham
Norton Canon
and it really was an eye opener.
apart from Eardisley,they were all tiny villages with only 5/6 houses and 1 pub 1 church..i can only presume that my Merrick family from Norton Canon came from farms outside Norton Canon..there`s not enough house for them to have lived in the village.anyway,i have posted a new thread regarding JOHN MERRICK and ANN JEFFS children...regards...allan
