Lott Northeast
« on: Sunday 03 February 08 06:25 GMT (UK) »

Lott Northeast was born March Quarter 1867, Alderbury, Wiltshire and apparently travelled to New York ( date and ship unknown). I am endeavouring to find out more about him particularly the origin of his christian name. I am a Northeast and I have  a connection with the Lott's of Suffolk, UK.

   Hi .....

It would appear to be 2 people here ..

  Lot Northeast  b 1867 q1 Alderbury
  Lot Northeast d 1867 q1 Alderbury Wilts.

However there is a Lott Northeast who does indeed travel to the US.

  Arrival date...... 4 June 1858
  Ship name........Enaymine
  Port of depature.. Liverpool

  Lott Northeast age 30 gamekeeper.

It does not however give a place of birth for this older Lott.

The older Lot(t) is on the 1841 census in Dorset (but wasn't born there) and is the son of Robert and Harriet. From the 1861 census, this couple were from Wiltshire. They may have married in Alderbury - there is a marriage for Robert Northeast and Harriet Hardiman.

(My first thought was to wonder if this name came from the biblical Lot - apparently there is also a King Lot in Arthurian literature - father of Gawain amongst others).
