Falkland Islands "Desire The Right"

Well - Winston Churchill's 24xgt Grandfather was supposedly a SAHAGUN Pero Bernandes de SAHAGUN Way back in the 1100's or something - however, if you do Google "Winston Churchill" + Sahagun, there are lots of hits of pages where both appear
http://fabpedigree.com/s008/f184602.htm
SAHAGUN Does appear to be Spanish, and originating in Spain first........the first Sahagun in Mexico was a Franciscian Friar in 1529: http://www.mexconnect.com/mex_/history/jtuck/jtquetzalcoatl.html
......and "Sahagoone" a phonetic rendering of the name?
I wonder if Thomas' second name, "Prince" went together with the third forename "Sahagoone" - so he was possibly named after someone known as "Prince Sahagun?" - was Thomas' father an army/military man. I wonder....?
Cheers AMBLY

Fiona,
I see on your web site that Thomas Prince Sahagoone Harris was the son of Mary, born Bath, c1795. Bath at that time would have been a sophisticated society with at least a sprinkling of Europeans.
I have known people in Canada of Spanish heritage whose name is Chagun, (pronounced sh-goon) and wonder if that might be the source of the name in your family.
Checking with Family Search and Google does not give much lateral help with this name.

Sue, my sister contacted someone who went to the Wiltshire Record Office and checked there. He reported back with this information, you may haveit alreday, but just in case....
> In the Registers: > > Baptized 14 Oct 1822, Thomas son of Thomas and Mary Harris of > Wroughton, father's occupation coachman Baptized 14 Oct 1822, Henry > son of Thomas and Mary Harris of Wroughton, father's occupation > coachman
> Buried 19 Oct 1822, Henry Harris of Wroughton an infant
> Received into the congregation 29 Dec 1822, Thomas Prince Sahagoone > son of > Thomas and Mary Harris of Wroughton, father's occupation coachman [NB > the writing is consistent, no suggestion of "Prince Sahagoone" being > added separately] > > In the Bishops Transcripts the same information with the addition of > the word "twins" in the margin by the entries on 14 Oct 1822.
Also my sister has speculated on the following:
"I have Charles Pickett, Wroughton marrying an Ann Humphreys with a son William b. 1733 Wroughton. This Charles Pickett is the 2nd great grandfather of the wife of Thomas Prince S etc. Charlotte. William married an Allethea and had at least 7 children including a Charles b.1758 Wroughton. Could this be the one marrying an Ann Prince?"

Could the name be due to a military connecton? There was a battle at Sahagun in 1809. If you do a search in the London Gazette for Sahagun you get some hits.
It's a long shot but y'never know?
