Stanley SCALES
« on: Sunday 03 February 08 09:41 GMT (UK) »

I'm looking to find out about Stanley Charles SCALES.
Born around 1899 in Haughley, Suffolk (based on 1901 census) to Isaac SCALES and Elizabeth (nee English).

Stanley's siblings are Ellen M, Alice Maud and Gertrude Emma.

Stanley was the second wife of Lily Bridges (Feakes when she married Stanley) in 1922.

The daughter of Stanley and Lily is my grandmother born 1923.

Lily remarried in 1924.
My grandmother lived with her father for a short time, before he took her to live with Ellen.
She never saw him again, but would dearly love to know what happened to him.
She was not allowed to talk about him as a child, but does recall someone saying he might have gone to Cambridge.

I can't find a death record for him, I can't find a remarriage and I haven't been able to find him on any military records either.

Any advice or suggestions would be very welcome

Regards
Kia

Welcome JustKia!

I hope that you will visit us often and make lots of progress with your research.  Please be sure to register your surnames on our SURNAMES INTERESTS TABLE.

Unless you manage to find a living family member who has this information or you are happy to trawl through the GRO indexes looking for a death, trying to find out about what happened to Stanley after 1924 may be difficult.

Discovering his ancestry on the other hand would be much easier.  Do you have census information pre 1901 for him?

Surnames registered =)

No known living relatives (except my grandmother), unless I discover what happened and if he had any other children.

I do indeed have his ancestry =)
Ellen, Alice, Gertrude and Stanley were all born to Isaac Scales and Elizabeth, all in Haughley, Suffolk.

I have Isaac's parents and paternal grandparents.
I have Elizabeth's parentsand paternal grandparents. Also her paternal grandfather's parents. Then her paternal grandmother's lineage to 1670's.

I'm quite happy to trawl records =)

Here's hoping.
