Ideas for a local/family history project?
« on: Sunday 03 February 08 16:27 GMT (UK) »

Hello there,

I immensley enjoy my family history but have a keen interest in local history also.

For a while now I have been thinking of trying/starting some sort of project to do with family/local history, somethign rewarding and that could possibly help geneologists?

Just wondering if anyone can suggest anything I can do? I'm pretty good on computers and with technology so it could encompass that? I'm a budding photographer too.

One thought i've had is photographing the york graveyards and perhaps transcribing and producing a website? Anything else?

My area of choice would be either York itself, or the the Ainsty, the area to west of York.

Any help/information/advice much appreciated.

Lee

P.s. This is also posted in Common Room and York to get a good response - if the mods feel this is inappropriate, please feel free to delete which ever you think well get the worst response.

Although Lee is asking specifically about Yorkshire, it also a subject which can provide ideas for other areas.

Please add your contributions to Lee's other topic, in the Common Room.
