Charles Stone, GG Grandfather, 1819 to 1916
baptism of Charles Stone born 1819

I have received a marriage cert for Charles Stone, it gave me his father's name as James, occupation; carrier. It didn't give Charles' age, just 'full age'.

I know that Charles was born about 1819 (9 April according to the old bible I have) in the village of Downley, (Desborough) West Wycombe, Bucks. If I could get some info about his parents I would be grateful, as I am now at a dead end.

Hi Amyou,

There's a marriage on the IGI which may well be that of Charles' parents:

West Wycombe  14 July 1814 James Stone & Eliza Folley

There are a few Stone baptisms in W Wycombe on the IGI - but no Charles. Unfortunately, this general area is only partially covered by the IGI. I've just checked the Bucks FHS website and even they seem to have a gap in the WW baptism coverage between 1812 and 1842.

Perhaps someone going to the Bucks Record Office might be able to do you a look up?

Thank you very much for that info Jill. That probably was the marriage of James.

Charles Stone and Caroline Stone (possibly Charles' sister) were living with Samuel Folley in 1841. It does make it seem more likely that Folley was the correct name!
