Here's the marriage of Isaac & Mary:
18th March 1823 at Moor Crichel, Isaac Williams otp to Mary Prince otp, by Banns. Witnesses Hannah Lawrence, John Mellish, John Sims
LOL SNAP Brambletye added haven't we seen the name SIMS before, wasn't someone Sims a witness to a marriage or something? Tom Sims was a possible husband for Rose Ellen Williamsbutit was proved to be John Henry Mason

No,Okay....Liz Foyle age 55,Joe Foyle 65,Ambrose Trowbridge 30,Isaac Foyle 20, Alf Foyle 15 Sarah Trowbridge 20,...
...and all these on 1841, so all ages rounded, dammit. However - Sarah age 20 = b. c1821, just as her probable father Ambrose is dying (bur. 6.11.1821 Witchampton). Isaac Foyle b. c1821 by Eliz's new man is prob. a couple of years younger, and has had his age rounded up.
Lydart, have we got a confirmed bapt. for your Samuel as son of Ambrose Trowbridge b. 1775 & Elizabeth Vincent m. 1802 Tollard Royal? I'm hoping I've not missed anything here, can't find it in the postings...or is it you're after having us prove it... ....................................... ...and to add to Lydart's summary:
Parents of Mary Prince = Moses Prince m. 10.12.1804 Moor Crichel to Elizabeth Prince (poss. his cousin???). Eliz. d. 21.12.1806 in childbirth of their other dau. Eliz., chr. that day and bur. 17.2.1807. ........... Parents of Eliz. White who m. John Williams of Gussage = Thomas White & Eliz. Adams m. 27.3.1769 Moor Crichel. Eliz. White's siblings = Joseph chr. 15.9.1771, Thomas chr. 6.3.1774 both Moor Crichel. ........... Parents of the Ann Sturney who m. Samuel Trowbridge are likely John Sturney & Sally/Sarah (surname u/k), ann's siblings look to be Henry 1809, Dina 1821, Mary Ann 1826, George 1840 (from poss. Census lookups). Samuel T. had a second marriage, to a Sarah, I think this is so far unresolved apart from Census evidence...?

On page 20 already - not sure there's going to be room for this, but here goes...
Right ... I've checked through the two birthday books I've got ... and can throw these three names into the melting pot:- John Reginald Mason b. 3/Mar/1897 Samuel Trowbridge b. 1/April/no year given and we have "Bert died, aged 17" on 22/Aug/no year There’s one small nagging worm of doubt that’s been worrying me about this ever since I saw it, because the detail has come from the Birthday books.
If this is the Samuel Trowbridge b. c1821, and the books belonged to Lydart’s grandmother and great-aunt, Samuel would have been their grandfather.
Would they have put him in by his Christian name? I imagine most, like me, would have put in “Grandfather So and So’s birthday” - unless the books were meant to be an historical record of the family rather than a reminder to send a card.
This is making me wonder if there was another Samuel Trowbridge who was a cousin or some such - it’s quite a familiarity to refer to your grandfather by his Christian name even in this day and age, let alone in the 1890s.
Need advice please, Lydart! did your gran. & gt. aunt also put their parents’ birthdays in their books under their Christian names, or as Mother and Father? I’m after finding out if there was any other precedent for the format...
