German translation please
« on: Tuesday 05 February 08 08:50 GMT (UK) »

Can somebody help me with this translation please.
I have found an image of the ship " Steinberger " wich states underneath,
" Steinberger 1895-1910 Auf der schelde vor Antwerpen ".
Im guessing its setting off to Antwerp or something but i'd like to be sure because i want to know the location of the photograph.
My Great uncle fell off a plank and died whilst paintig this ship in Middlesbrough dock in 1895. Sad
Thanks in advance
Peely.

Hi Peely,

Auf der Schelde = on the River Scheldt

Schelde is the German name of the River Scheldt

"vor Antwerpen" towards Antwerp.

So the ship's in the Scheldt sailing to Antwerp.
