Frances Potter
« on: Tuesday 05 February 08 14:58 GMT (UK) »

I am trying to trace Frances Potter born 1902 in Egremont , daughter of Thomas Potter and Janet Toolan. I have found 3 possible marriages - the first to George Whitfield in 1921 in Birkenhead 8a/1114, the second to a Bower in Birkenhead 8a/1210 in 1926 and the third to an Alexander Ramsay in 1926 in Birkenhead 8a/1544.
Is there any way I can find if any of these match my Frances without buying three certificates please?
I will be delighted to hear from anyone who knows anything about Frances and her older sister Victoria , who married Charles McInnes.

The birth seems to be registered as Frances Margaret Potter March quarter 1902 Wirral 8a 455

The marriages you have found:
George Whitfield 1921 Birkenhead is on Cheshire BMD to France May Maferking (sic) Potter, so I'd suggest this is not "your" Frances
Harold Bower 1926 Birkenhead is on Cheshire BMD to Frances Potter at Wallasey St Hilary - so a possible
Alexander Ramsey 1926 Birkenhead is to Frances Margaret Potter on Cheshire BMD Egremont, Presbyterian Church (Seabank Road) seems most likely

If you order the certificate from the local register office using the form on the CheshireBMD site and specify the father's name you won't be charged if the certificate doesn't match.  An easy way of eliminating the wrong certificate.
