The marriage reg is transcribed as "Barnard" and the image (hand written) reads "Barnard" too
Just thought this information may make it easier for anyone who can do a look up

My hunch didn't work ! - I could not find the marriage in Bedford St Peters,
... or St Pauls or St Marys or St Cuthbert. It could be be in a great number of Bedford parishes.

For an 1858 marriage all of the Bedford parishes bar St Johns are extracted onto the IGI. One way for Carol to narrow it down is to compare the numerous parishes in Bedford registration district with the same parishes on http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle to see which ones haven't been extracted onto the IGI. Even then I suspect there would still be too many to make it feasible for someone to go through all the microfilms
Less hassle to buy the certificate!
