1861 census Oldroyd
« on: Friday 07 January 05 20:39 GMT (UK) »

Hello

Can anyone find the whereabouts of Michael Oldroyd and family on the 1861 census.
He would be about 34 and would have had 3 children at that time, Henry, Eliza and Fred.
He was born in Kirkburton, Yorkshire but I believe he was in Durham in 1861.
Thank you so much.

Anne.

Hi Anne

Here's your family in 1871, back in Yorkshire.

OLDROYD

I've looked at Thornley 1861 and didn't find your family.

Hi Helen

Thank you for the information, it's very helpful.
I wonder where they were in 1861. They seem to have moved round rather a lot.

Regards
Anne.

Hi Anne

It might be worth checking the GRO birth indexes - it's possible there was a child between Fred and Arthur, which would give you their residence about 1870.

It's also possible they were already in Carr Gate, Yorkshire by then - worth a query to the Yorks list?

Just a few ideas
