1851 census Please-Makin Completed thanks
« on: Wednesday 06 February 08 18:06 GMT (UK) »

Hi

Sarah Makin a Weaver address Old Hall married in 1852 to Robert Crossley a  Dyer of Stand Lane
at All Saints Church Stand, it gave both ages as Full.
Roberts father was Nathan Crossley Weaver & for Sarah it gave the brides father as Jane Makin Spinster, so I presume Sarah was born out of wedlock.

Sarah & Robert had a daughter Elizabeth Crossley abt.1856 but by 1861 Elizabeth aged 4 was a lodger
in 1861 living with John  & Ann Critchley in Stand Lane,  Ann's maiden name was also Makin when she married John Critchley in 1855 but her father was Richard.

I would be grateful if you could check the 1851 census to see what comes up with any connection
for
Jane Makin & Sarah Makin
Richard Makin father &  Ann Makin age 35  (she was 45 on the 1861 census)

Thank you for any help you can give me

Regards  Marj

Hi Barbara

Great, Thank you. Just what I was hoping for Ann & Sarah ties in with what I was thinking, that Ann may have been Sarah's Aunt

Hi Barbara,

Thanks again for your help, do you think that you could maybe find Sarah aged 8
with her mother Jane for me in 1841. I have found a Christening for Jane Christened in 1809
making her about 32 in 1841.

Thank you

Hi Marj,

ahead of you, have been looking!

There are two Sarahs b.1833/4 in Eccles, but with families without a Jane.
Just found Jane's baptism on IGI in Eccles, parents Richard & Betty, off to search again

The only suitable single Jane I can see in 1841 is in a workhouse, details if you wnat them, but no sign of Sarah.  Of course no relationships are shown so she could be living with a male relative making them look like a married couple.  Have you got all Richard & Betty's children's baptisms?  There's a Thomas b.1820 but think he's married and no Jane with him either.

Still looking
