Perhaps I should be asking for help from the Isle of Skye.

I have reason to believe Mary Ann Swann may have been McSween.
The Index to Assisted British Migrant Immigration appears to have the McSween family ( mother and 5 children including Mary Ann aged 23) arriving Portland Harbour Nov 1853.
To confuse matters I discovered what appears to be the same family listed as sponsored by the Highland and Island Emigration Society.Same ship etc but this listing has the name as McSwan.
I am advised that the family can be found on the Portree County Inverness in 1841 and 1851.
The father was Allan McSween a shoemaker and he must have died before 1851 as the mother Mary was listed as a widow.
Would a look up for the death/burial Allan McSween between 1841 and 1851 be possible?

Any further help much appreciated.
