Does anyone know of Nolands Station, near the Grange,Hamilton,Victoria ?
I have a relative married there Jul 1854 but I cannot find a marriage index number.I am looking for the marriage of Thomas Knight and Mary Swan.He was a butcher in Ballarat when their first child was born 1855 at Ballarat. The birth register states that they were married July 1854 at Nolands Station near the Grange,Hamilton.

Hi

The Grange - info - site of Hamilton

http://www.heritageaustralia.com.au/search.php?state=VIC&region=74&view=224

I don't think Civil registration in Victoria was compulsory until 1855 - I could be incorrect on the year, but that may be the reason the marriage is not in the indexes.  Many early properties in the Western District were called stations.

Someone else can probably add more info.

Cheers
