Good thinking Barbara;  John Wakefield married a Hester Woodham at St Neots 3b/751 in Oct/Dec 1859.

But the Richard & Fanny(Frances) & son William are still about in Stow, Hunts in 1871 - but Thomas is not with them.

1851 there's a family in Stow, Hunts; transcribed as Wooden

This is real spider's writing on this sheet !

HO107/1750; Folio: 549; Page: 6

W Woodam, head, age 56, widower, born Milton, Beds ; Farm Labourer
Elizabeth Woodam, daughter, age 20, born Stow
Louisa Woodam, daughter, age 12, born Stow
Ester Wood ?, daughter, age 10, born Stow
Eliza Wood ?, daughter, age 7, born Stow

So it seems Esther/Hester Woodham had Thomas Hilson Woodham when she was about 19 & not married - & the father was most likely a Mr. Hillson

& & & who is father W Woodham born 1796 Milton Ernest, Beds  ? ?

This William Woodham born Milton appears on 1871 & again on 1881 still in Stow, now married to a 74 year old May/Mary born Broughton, Hunts.

A William Thomas Woodham married Mary Ann Clark in Jul/Sept 1879 at Huntingdon RD vol 3b page 425.  Wonder if he named his father on the marriage certificate.
** that may be red herring **
1891 has William T age 35 & Mary A Woodham age 37 living in Spaldwick, Hunts

Morning 'cousin' Linda ,  I don't let that thing call work stop me..  I sit at a computer all day so its easy to flip to internet mode.

Anyway I wish Mrs Ben of Bedford would come back & give us some more info on why she's after this Thomas Woodham;  & if she knows about anyone called Hillson.

I'm now off out for the day - catch up tonight.   John
