The BFHS has the Melchbourne Monumental Inscriptions & I had them about a couple of months ago & made some notes regarding the Woodham family. I have 11 names on my list.

I have Thomas Hilton Woodham buried 14/06/1934 age 76,
alongside his wife Martha Harriet buried 03/02/1929 age 68.

Also their son Frank buried 26/09/1959 age 80, with his wife Ada Mary (ne Sturges) buried 02/01/1967 age 85.

Mrs Ben - as you're in Bedford why not visit the Beds FHS meeting - next one is on Fri March 7th see http://www.bfhs.org.uk/

Just come back from a nice sunny but bracing day at Southwold.
Cheers John

Linda,  It is around the same time.  A Joseph Hillson b 1847 Little Staughton married Elizabeth Partridge in Eaton Socon; & he did have a number of younger brothers.  His father had a number of brothers each potentially providing sons, but I have not really researched the Hillson/Hilson family, as it is one of my out-lying branches.

It looks as though Esther may have given a none too subtle hint as to who the father of Thomas was!

where was the workhouse in St Neots Bedfordshire in 1871 and are there any records of the people in there. Thank you

I believe it was on Brook Street, near the junction with South Street.

Maybe the later one, but that would be Eaton Socon.

St Neots workhouse was on Brook Street. The building is still there. I walk past it going to the pub.
