Help Please - Fred / Frederick Proctor Completed with thanks
« on: Thursday 07 February 08 19:39 GMT (UK) »

Please can someone help me find Fred Proctor, I have found him on 1891 census and 1901 census but can't find him on any other.

Details I have are

Fred Proctor c1854 Yorkshire

This is the census I have found

Census at Seaham Harbour Durham

I have possibly found him on 1861 census aged 8 and a boarder but not sure as birth place is down as Sheffield but can't find him anywhere else.

On 1891 and 1901 his occupation is Glass Bottle Maker.

I would be grateful of any help.

Christine

Hi Christine,

Maybe the one born in Castleford born ca. 1851, son of William and Mary, is more likely, given his birthplace is Castleford in 1891?

1851: HO107/2330 262 51
1861 RG9/3439 53 18

I don't suppose you have his marriage cert ... it would not only tell you his father's name but also if he was a wiower when he married Elizabeth, given this possible man in 1881

Father William is a Glass Bottle Labourer.

I can post the details if you don't have Ancestry

There is also one in 1871 says born Pudsey but he is boarding with Eli Procter and I saw that there is an Eli Procter boarding with yours in 1891.

Thank you all for your replies. I have looked at 1851 1861 census and they look very promising even though the age is out. The 1871 census I cannot find Christine even putting in the Rg numbers that you hve given because that does sound good. I have even tried trying to get it with putting Eli for the name.

It is more than likely me  Grin

Hi again Christine,

Ignore the previous post, I've now found the correct family in 1871

He's mistranscribed as Tered Procter age 20

The whole family are there, he's still with his parents and siblings, found him by searching for his brother Henry  age 19
