Milne family history (1)
« on: Friday 08 February 08 03:17 GMT (UK) »

Hello All,

For some time now I have been researching various families in Scotland and making a number of postings, especially on the Fife Board. One family on my Family Tree has caused me quite a headache, and that is the Milne's. As you follow my postings , the reason for that will become patently obvious. Now, this first posting is being placed on the Angus Board for the simple reason that the individuals being mentioned were born and bred in Arbroath. However, certain members of the Milne family moved over the Firth of Tay into Fife and so my next postings on this subject will be on the Fife Board.

A James Miln (note the spelling!), married a Barbara Anderson sometime in the year 1813 at Arbroath.Their children, (or at least some of them) were:

James Miln born 16th July, 1814 at Arbroath.
Francis Miln born 22nd July, 1816 at Arbroath.
Johnathon Miln born 26th December, 1817 at Arbroath.
Charles Ritchie Miln born 31st August, 1819 at Arbroath.
Isabel Miln born 31st August, 1822 at Arbroath.

The oldest child, James Miln, born 16th July, 1814 at Arbroath, married a Mary Elder on 4th August, 1834, when he was 20 years of age, at Arbroath.

We will follow the fortunes of James and Mary's family in my postings on  the Fife Board.

Kind Regards,

Tom.
