lizdb
was james not born about 1887.
if i have this correct he married in 1908 and the age on his marr.cert. was 21.
so the first census would be 1891
i could be wrong though as i'm starting to get confused .
time for a break i think

James was born 1887 so it could be the East Bridgeford crowd. I am waiting for the marriage certificate.

You're right Wozzle - I just got carreid away with this family in a vague effort to find a James in it!

but James is not there in 1891, only Walter and Frank.

This is so hard isnt it!

Every direction we follow has one or two things that tie up, and a hundred that dont! No direction has had EVERYTHING!

i think the best thing is to wait until diesel gets the marriage cert
i am like a cat chasing its tail i.e. going round in circles.

I don't lnow if this family have been mentioned yet(there's too much to read back)but there's a gamekeeper William Curtis age 34 married to Anne with all the relevant kids  Grin in Derbyshire in 1901.

RG13/ 3237, Folio 69, Page 6.

Someone shout if they can't access it and after tea I'll type them all out.

Carol (who wasn't following Liz...sorry  Kiss)

Here are the details for anyone following this thread
(highly unlikely - even us who are really into it are not following it!!!)

1901

Shirley Park
Derbyshire

William Curtis  head 34 Gamekeeper bn Bessingham Norfolk
Anne wife 36 bn Berghill Whittington
James W 13 son bn "
Fredrick 12 bn Cottom Whichurch
Dora A 10 bn Norfolk Houghton
Frank 4 bn Finchley Avery Bridgeworth
William 3   "
Violet 1  "

well - it has all the criteria - a James with a dad called William who is a gamekeeper, and a younger brother called Frank!
Is this the JAmes who marries in 1908 in Bulwell age 21? Age spot on too!

What is more - this Frank would be of the right sort of age to have had a son (Granville or otherwise) around 1927 (though he could not have marrried Ethel Miller in 1904...)

BIG gold star for Carol!!! (I'll even let you off for not following my waffle!!!)

Now - a better contender for Grenville than the Welsh one I found before!! :

Grenville L Curtis
Ap/May/Jn 1928
Nottingham area
ref 7b 743
mothers maiden name - Wilson

(1923-1930 has only 2 Grenville Curtis births, the Welsh one and this one)

Now - his birth cert should reveal his dad - hopefully Frank!

Then there is this marriage

Jan/Feb/MAr 1924
Frank H Curtis
to Jessie Wilson

Stokesley Yorkshire.

Another cert? to see if he has a dad William who is a gamekeeper?
