Several reports on Papers past southern papers for John Barker who was killed in a train accident Kaukapakapa 3 Jan 1898.
So far have the M/I's and BR
Info is that wife was Emily Ann and that he was a native of England, 3 years in NZ. Age 37/8
Now he is the only JOhn BArker that dies that year.
Trying to confirm his connection back to my Shopshire line.
The headstone of Frances Lowe Barker wife of John Barker of Bridgnorth Shropshire has an inscription:
in loving memory of eldest Son John who died in NZ 1898
Have someone checking his wife Emily Ann's probate 1918 for possible family names.
Suppose only option at present is to look at Southern Cross Newspapers for family/funeral details?? and death cert.
Thought I'd ask here first in case this family rings a bell with anyone
This John would be my GGGrandfathers nephew..a line we didn't know to have come to NZ

Sorry can't find the other link.
The wife's probate gave no family details. so getting researcher to check for paper burial notice.
Really adding this info incase a family is out there who is connected.
