Haig/Weir Family of Alloa (3)
« on: Sunday 10 February 08 09:54 UTC (UK) »

Hello All,

In my last posting I stated that we would be looking at the family of Euphan Weir, who married Alexander Haig about 1710 at Alloa in Clackmannanshire.

Euphan's father was Thomas Weir, born about 1662 in Clackmannanshire, who married Helen Bruce on the 5th November, 1682 at Alloa, Clackmannanshire. Helen had been christened on the 6th May, 1663 to her parents, James Bruce and Euphan(e) (or Elspet) Ramsay.

Thomas and Helen's children were:

Euphan Weir christened 4th December, 1683 at North Leith, Midlothian.

James Weir christened 7th August, 1685 at South Leith, Midlothian.

George Weir christened 15th February, 1687 at South Leith, Midlothian.

Martha Weir christened 24th September, 1688 at South Leith, Midlothian.

Mary Weir christened 22nd December, 1691 at South Leith, Midlothian.

When researching my ancestors, I am always interested to discover details about the female side of the family, and so, in my next posting, we will take a look at Helen Bruce's father, James Bruce and his wife, Euphan(e) (or Elspet) Ramsay.

Kind regards,

Tom.
