Haig/Weir Family of Alloa (4)
« on: Sunday 10 February 08 10:23 UTC (UK) »

Hello All,

The father-in-Law of Thomas Weir, who married Helen Bruce on the 5th November,, 1682 was James Bruce, who married Euphan(e) (or Elspet) Ramsay on the 4th July, 1655 at Alloa in Clackmannanshire.Their children, (or at least some of them), were:

James Bruce christened 17th January, 1661 at Alloa, Clackmannanshire.
Helen Bruce christened 6th May, 1663 at Alloa, Clackmannanshire
Jean(e) Bruce christened .... October, 1665 at Alloa, Clackmannanshire

Since I have sufficient space to insert a few more details, I will do so in order to further assist those people who are interested in continuing with unearthing information on the Bruce family.

James Bruce's father was Thomas Bruce, who was born about 1610 in Midlothian. He married a Marion Hamilton on the 3rd May, 1632 at Edinburgh in Midlothian. As well as giving birth to James around the 6th February, 1635 in Edinburgh, Marion also gave birth to William and John Bruce. The same christening date has been entered for both of them, i.e. 10th December, 1837.

As always, I would ask researchers to share any further information with other people on RootsChat and by doing that everyone will benefit enormously.

Kind regards,

Tom.
