Hi all
Could I request a lookup for this lady and family please in the 1851 census, recovered returns?
I have a Elizabeth POWNALL born c 1853 Manchester, her parents are
Samuel POWNALL b 1826 Rainow, Cheshire Sarah EVANS b 1829 Llangollen, Wales
In 1861 they are in Derby.
Between 1869 and 1871 they are at 16 Lower Ormond Street, Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester, Lancashire.
As I have not found them in 1851 I hoped that they might be in the recovered returns and were in C-on-M in 1851 as Elizabeth was born in Manchester.
It is a bit of a long shot, but I hope that someone may be able to help.
All help is appreciated.
Regards

I see a John Pownall at 8 Chester road in Hulme, he was in a list of people at various addresses, in a map of Hulme dated 1849. Hulme is on the border of Chorlton on Medlock. It says School after his name so I dont know if he was a school teacher.

Windmill street ran in a south east direction from near the entrance (Station Approach) to Central railway station. It ran into Lower Moseley street. Its a bit confusing in that its either in Oxford or St James Ward. I think it was St James Ward. It was close to St Peters church.

Is it at all possible to send me an image?
Hello DeeN I am sorry but there is no census image available. The 1851 Unfilmed Census information, which can be seen, is a transcription of the parts that were able to be read, by volunteers using special lighting, from the badly damaged original documents. DS Hi DS
Doh, of course, I knew that.
Many thanks
Dee
