I would be very pleased to hear from anyone with an interest in these names in Rathven or Deskford  before 1900.
Many thanks. Toby.

Hi Toby

My Benzie's are

Jane Benzie born 1856 Rathven  - parents Alexander Benzie and Ann Munro. Sometimes they are found with "s" on the end ala Benzies.

Also an Ann Benzie born c1823 in Keith married to James McGregor dont really know much about this one though.

Hello

A 'lurker' throwing his tuppenceworth in.

The IGI has Ann Benzies marrying a James McGregor on 30 Jan 1845.

The only child I can find born to this couple - on the IGI from '45 to '65 is William McGrigor (note spelling) in Keith on 07 March 1857 - an extracted record.  Seems a rather long gap from marriage to children?  (There appears to be another James McGrigor/McGregor in Keith at the time, but he's having children with a May/Marjory Dunstan).  Away back onto the IGI.

Regards,  Steve  :O)

Hi Steve

My Ann and James McGregor had a son Duncan b c 1852 in Keith. He married in to a branch of my side and his line is one of those research moments on the list when nothing else is going on   Smiley

Thanks

MMMh - looks as though back on to the IGI again for me. (back in and out again - cannot find Duncan - means nothing as you probably know a significant % of births were not recorded)

For Alexander Benzie and Ann Munro the IGI has the following.  All 'extracted'

JANE BENZIE Birth: 06 JAN 1856 Rathven, Banff, Scotland

ALEXANDER BENZIES Birth: 10 NOV 1857 Deskford, Banff, Scotland

JAMES BENZIESBirth: 11 MAR 1860 Deskford, Banff, Scotland

ISABELLA BENZIES Birth: 29 APR 1862 Deskford, Banff, Scotland

ANN BENZIES Birth: 27 JUN 1864 Deskford, Banff, Scotland

Note however, that at the same time in Rathven there is an Alexander Benzie producing children with an Isabella Black.

Hi Steve & TKD,
Thank you both for your help. There seems to be the possibility of a connection although your names are about  a generation earlier than mine. I have a Maggie Benzie born c. 1880 who married a William Green in 1909 in Huntly. He came from Rathven.
If I get any further I will let you know.
Thanks, Toby.
