« on: Monday 11 February 08 12:47 GMT (UK) »

Hi there.

I am looking for a birth of a Lewis Crombie to parents Alexander Crombie and Jane Nory. It would be somewhere between 1802 and 1809.

Thank you

Regards
Jackie

Hi Jackie,

Sorry according to the IGI and microfish at ANESFHS, Alex and Jane only had 3 children between 1802 & 1808 in Midmar, but not Lewis unfortunately.

I have people who appear they should be the parents of X & Y, but the records aren't there....very frustrating.

Hope you find out someday.

Hello

Just to clarify what Grothenwell says.

A Scotlandwide search for children born to the couple on the IGI, from 1780 to 1820 only brings up the 3 below.  All 'extracted'.  All ch. Midmar on the following dates.

31 Dec 1802 - Mary.
02 May 1804 - Jane
30 Mar 1808 - William.

Regards,   Steve  :O)

Update - after merryhows message:  I take it your couple married on 06 march 1798 in Cluny, Aberdeenshire?

Hi Jackie, did you find him on the 1841 census? He is with his wife Harriot and 5 children at Castle St Aberdeen. All show as being born in England. Marriage to Harriot Lester 29th Dec 1824 St Alphage Greenwich Kent. Almost forgot he is a Merchant Shipowner.
