Edward and Hannah Cox.....location of graves
« on: Saturday 07 February 09 21:03 UTC (UK) »

I am hoping someone can help me with location of burial of Edward and Hannah Cox. Hannah died in 1866 and her address was 1 Jubilee Court, Brighton. Edward died the next year in1867 and his address was 28 Holland Street, Brighton. Their children were baptised in St. Nicholas' Brighton.
I'm not sure where to start looking and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Justme

My 3xgreat grandfathers wife died in 1863 and was buried at the Woodvale Cemetery, Lewes Road, Brighton. This was probably Brighton's most major cemetery in the Victorian era.

Hello Ben,

Thankyou so much for the link. Sure looks like a good place to start my search. Hopefully they will be able to find Edward and Hannah.

Cheers from Del   Cool  (Need sunnies here today.....we're in the middle of record breaking heatwave)

My apologies for flippant remark re heatwave. Very sorry to hear of tragedies in Victoria...........Del

Hi Justme

The Woodvale Cemetery was Brightons major cemetery and it still is today. Most Victorian Brighton residents were buried here when they died.

Thankyou Ben for telling me about Woodvale Cemetery. I sent away for them to do a search and they found Hannah but no trace of Edward, so I have a bit more searching to do.

Many thanks from Del
