Well now that you mention it , it would be great if you could find the censuses where Thomas Lawson and Agnes Chaplin where when they were younger. (in their families I mean) Thanks so much!

Great!
I assume Agnes Brown is either an illegitimate child of Agnes Chaplin from before she married Thomas Lawson, or her first husband died and the wedding record is missing.
Offspring of Alexander Chalin/Isabel Mortimer off IGI: -DAVID CHAPLIN 22 JAN 1820 Glamis, Angus, Scotland -GEORGE CHAPLIN 18 APR 1822 Glamis, Angus, Scotland -SAMUEL CHAPLIN OCT 1825 Glamis, Angus, Scotland
That's great stuff AMBLY, though I seem to be running out of luck now: -There is no sign of Agnes Chaplin's birth on the IGI. -I can't find the birth of Thomas Lawson in Kirriemuir on the IGI either. Which also means I can't find his parents. (or any David Law of Rescobie, or Peter Russel of Kirriemuir) -The marriage record of Thomas Lawson and Agnes Chapin off ScotlandsPeople does not mention the parents of Thomas Lawson. -There is no marriage of an Alexander Chaplin and an Isabel Mortimer either... -As for the parents of Alexander Chaplin and Isabel Mortimer, there are too many possible candidates...
Anyway, thanks again AMBLY.

Hi, I'm also (On behalf of my wife's mob) chasing up Alexander Chaplin and Isabel Mortimer, and although I seem to have traced Isabel's lot back to c1682, Alexander is a bit of a mystery, no marriage date, nor even a death! Also, although LDS gives Isabel's place of birth as Glamis, I don't know how reliable that source is.

Hi, I am not from the Chaplin/Mortimers, but from from Chaplin/Wilsons, also from Glamis.
You are lucky in that many people have already researched the Mortimers. You will find an Ancestry File on the LDS website bringing the family back to 1703 when a Samuel Mortimer married a Helen Tarbatt. There are also several memorial inscriptions of Mortimers in Glamis.
I think it highly likely my George Chaplin is related to your Alexander Chaplin, but I have not been able to find either of their parents. Myself and a cousin of mine are researching the Chaplin ancestry and will keep you informed if we discover anything.
Feel free to message me if you would like any help,
Kind regards -Tunji
