Hi
Thanks for checking that Tazzie. I take it the other shipping entry for plain Thomas Constant (Passenger and Immigration index arrival Philadelphia) was the same fellow?

Hi everyone, thank you all for your interest, Thomas Constant is a puzzle indeed. I wonder if one of you could check the 1841/51 censuses again to make sure that I am researching the correct Thomas. in those censuses he should have parents Samuel and Mary Ann, as well as siblings Robert, John, Samuel, Betsey Tunn, Hannah and others. I had all the births of the IGI, and it appears Samuel +Mary Ann were the parents of 2 Thomas's as well as 2 Samuel's and 2 Mary's, and we all know how unreliable the IGI is.
Thank you all again for your interest and help.
Best Wishes Bethan

Hi Bethan
In 41/51 Thomas Constant has parents and siblings as you listed. Absolutely no sign of him 61 which is a puzzle given that 1866 death which seems likely to be him.

Good find Jan. You may well be right - but it will take the death cert to prove it, and even then it might not. 3 Counties Hospital was in Biggleswade registration district which is where the 1866 death was registered.
"and we all know how unreliable the IGI is"
Sorry Bethan but I beg to disagree - you cannot generalise about the IGI. There are two types of entry - member submissions are totally unreliable. But extracted entries are reliable and all of the Renhold baptisms (not births) you mention are extracted. Samuel baptised 1831 was buried age 10 on 4 Feb 1841; Thomas baptised in 1827 was buried age 5 on 14 June 1832; and Mary baptised in 1826 was buried age 6 on 5 May 1832. So there's nothing unreliable about these Constant baptisms. And no, I'm not a LDS church member!
