Hi Ricky
Again, thanks for the information. I do think that Sarah Eacott is Sarah Varney, you kindly found her living in London 1891, then a marriage 1893, and a child born 1897 in Camberwell, London, all adds up. Cheers. The William Varney I asked about yesterday, Ricky, born 1870 Billington,by 1901 I beleive that he was married as there is a child listed as grandaughter aged 8 living with William's parents William and Sarah in Wingrave.

No idea Ricky, it's just that William is missing from the parents home in1901 so assummed he married, and as there is a grandchild at the parents home, and he was the only son that could have been the father again assuming.

Looking at other sites as you do, I looked on CWGC, and there is a Harry Varney Eacott, son of William Arthur and Sarah Jane Eacott, of Slade Green Erith Kent. Harry is remembered at the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
Yet another piece of the puzzle.
Thank you
Carol

Hi Carol
That was a good find, but I carnt see William on the 1901 census , which is annoying, as he must be around somewhere. Have tried looking in Beds and Bucks for him, but nothing matches up

Hi Carol
I've also looked every way I can think of for William in 1901 but no sign and I can't see a death either. Could he have emigrated?

Hi Jan
I suppose that there is a possibility he emigrated. William is aged 20 and living with the family in Wingrave, Bucks.1891. In 1901 there is a grandaughter Edith aged 8 living with Williams parents William and Sarah at the same address as 1891. I am assuming that Edith belongs to William jnr as the only other son David was aged 16 in 1901. Anyway thanks for looking, much appreciated.

Hi, I was roaming around the internet looking for records on Henry Varney Eacott trying to find my great grandmothers maiden name and came across this conversation ... I nearly spat my tea at the screen.
ok William Arthur Eacott (my great grandfather)1862-1932 Cotterill Glouc married Sarah Jane ? 1873-1944 from Billington Beds. They had four children; William Arthur Eacott 1896-1954 (my Grandad) Henry Varney Eacott 1897-1917 ww1 Florence Kate Eacott 1898-1899 Ethel Eacott 1900-? The family moved from Camberwell (after baby flo died) to Dartford kent. William Arthur married Amelia Emily Hoare in Dartford 1920 they had 6 sons and moved from Dartford - Farnham - Hartley w - and then out to China where my father Douglas was born in 1925 (British Legation China, Peking) then settled back in Droxford Hampshire finally moving to the Fareham Portsmouth area. where both died william in 1954 (58) and Amelia 1977 (79) I was looking trying to figure out my Great Grandma's maiden name as I didn't have a clue. It never registered that it might have been Varney although i always thought it was an odd middle name to give a child. doh!

Hi Pompeygirl,
You can always find something on Rootschat. Sarah Jane (Varney) Eacott was the grandaughter of William and Susannah Varney. William was my 2xgt grandfathers brother. Thank you for filling me in on dates etc for the rest of the family. Anything that I can help you with please be in touch.
