I think you will only find out exactly when he died by getting a copy of his death certificate; the death certificate might also have some addresses (his if he died at home or the informant's) which might give clues as to where he might have been buried.
If you subscribe to www.ancestry.co.uk you can search the death registrations, once you have the reference numbers then a certificate can be ordered which, hopefully, will give you some clues. If you don't have a subscription then perhaps a Rootschatter who does subscribe will be able to find the details for you.
