I see that her husband was also b. Germany (possibly Wiesbaden, re: 1881 census's 'Wisbaden'?) If you track him down (eg. naturalization records - if he ended up in Northallerton there's a possiblity listed on the NA) you might find that she came from the same area. It seems unlikely that she went to Middlebrough by herself - she perhaps either knew Jacob in Germany, and followed him to England, or other family/friends of hers also moved to the area and she came with them.
Who were the witnesses on the marriage certificate?

Hmm - and there's no trace of her in the same area?
(Could name also be 'Schamberg'?)

Maybe the name is "Schaumburg" and the person writing the cert. understood "Chamberg"??

Hi Susan P,
if you go to Wikipedia. org and put in "Schaumburg", you will see that there is also an area in Lower Saxony named Schaumburg. Maybe this would help you further - at least to understand where the name comes from.

No problem -
I live in Germany, so hear these names and areas often. Glad to help where and when I can.

Hi Susan,
have you tried Schamberg? There are still Schambergs living in Anspach/Neu-Anspach.
