THEIR DAUGHTER EDNA STANLEY WAS B 20 MARCH 1921 IN MANSFIELD

Hi yogibear - no luck with the usual sources, sorry. Just a thought - I had one I was looking up for someone where there had been a previous marriage. Birth certificate only gave (current) married name & maiden name - not first married name. Is there any chance Harriet had been married before - eg a WW1 widow - in which case second marriage would be in the indices in first married surname.

I DONT THINK SO BUT I THINK JOHN HAD A COUPLE OF MISTRESSES AND JOHN AND HARRIET HAD ABOUT 20 KIDS.
JOHN DIED WLL BEFORE 1950 AND I THINK HE WAAS IN HIS LATE 40S POSSIBLEY.

Hi   

There are so many of each name on the 1901 census that it would be impossible to decide which were the correct two people Undecided

With the details from the marriage certificate such as their ages, occupations and addresses, their father's names and occupations and the names of the witnesses etc we might have a slim chance of finding the correct people but even then, it cannot be guaranteed.

yeh i know i ust wondered thats all . i have sent off for the marriage cert so i will have to wait for that.
