Hi Annie,

I went through the Passenger Lists yesterday  --   he/they could be one of those frustratingly anonymous  "Mason" ,  "M. Mason" ,  "Mr. Mason"  or  "H. Mason", etc.   that drive us all batty!!

But didn't find Herbert who could be connected to parents or siblings.

Maybe someone can take another shot at it with a better outcome    Wink

Ellis Island  has  indexed Herbert W Mason  age 14 arriving NY from Southampton on  the "Saint Paul"  on May 16, 1896.   However, when I went to look at the actual manifest,   he wasn't actually there.

Ancestry  has him  ----  indexed  as "Mrs. Herbert Mason,"  14  on the  "Paul"   but when you look at the actual, he is the 14 year old son of Mortimer Mason, merchant traveling with his wife.

Coincidentally,

Julia Mason 26 Maid  arriving August 14, 1896 also on the "St. Paul "  in NYC from Southampton.   Says she is from France but think this may be a "ditto down"  from the young 15 yr. old maid just above (Miss Annie Alnot).   Seems they both are traveling with the Joseph S. Auerbach family.  He is a lumber merchant and resides in the U.S.
Julia's age is not too far off from Herbert's sister, Julia b. 1874.

Let's hope not gone to Ireland!!!   Tho' Austrailia (or New Zealand)  would certainly be challenging as well without the well defined target!!

And,  if in the U.S. ,  just in time for the 1890 gap  where anything could have happened over 20 years    Roll Eyes

Do you have them in 1891  or last seen 1881 Huh
